Family offices are shifting away from U.S. equities and continuing to embrace alts and other unique investments.

Theresa Shutt, CIO, says clients are being told “it’s not about market timing—it’s about time in the market.” They’re being counselled to stay in the market and weather the storm, with the knowledge that a well-diversified portfolio can help mitigate volatility.

“That traditional 60/40 allocation that used to work no longer works,” she says.

Shutt says clients need to buckle up.
