Ian David Clark is a trusted Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager, and Insurance Specialist with over 25 years of industry experience. Ian holds a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation, the leading industry standard for discretionary investment and portfolio management services, and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, in addition to his Bachelor of Science and Economics degrees. He is also a member of Advocis, the largest voluntary professional membership association of financial advisors in Canada, which offers designation programs, certification programs, and professional development.
Ian began his career at a national Canadian financial institution in the early ‘90s, then partnered with a financial planning firm for 10 years before helping create Ocean Wealth. Ian, who is co-writer of a column for Victoria-based Douglas Magazine, believes wealth management is the blueprint to a client’s financial success. “Wealth management is the process of fitting your investment portfolio together with your financial and retirement planning in one comprehensive financial plan,” he says. Ian is an architect in the planning process serving the needs of individuals, families, and self-employed business owners.
Ian enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and he is active on the soccer field each week. Married for over 24 years, he and his wife Helen have two children, a daughter currently in university and a son who is exceptionally skilled on the soccer field. He believes it is important to give back to the community and helps to support local soccer teams and a youth empowerment organization in Victoria, BC.
