Ben graduated with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan (B Comm.) in 1997 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 2000. He spent 6 years in public practice with the final two years spent working for PWC in the Cayman Islands.After leaving public practice, Ben began working for UBS AG, an international Swiss Bank, providing accounting, compliance and investor relations services to hedge fund and private equity firms. In 2007 Ben was a member of the senior management team that opened the Butterfield Fund Services Office in Halifax where he eventually became Managing Director and oversaw a team of 100 professionals. Ben began working in the financial planning business full time in 2015 and joined Affinity Financial Group in the Summer of 2016.

Ben’s practice focuses on business owners where he applies the same principles he acquired while providing a comprehensive service to Money Managers. He knows that a tremendous amount of value can be provided to business owners who work with an experienced professional who provides a comprehensive and customized approach that integrates tax, insurance, investments and accounting while having their long-term best interest at heart.Ben serves a small group of clients and generally only takes on new clients on a referral basis.

Ben is in good standing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia (ICANS)and the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC).

Ben and his wife Kerry Maher, a local golf instructor and owner of Freshii Scotia Square,are the proud parents of three boys, Xavier, Jonah and Hugo.
